TMSA Peace Forum: The Global Student Dialogue

At TMSA Triangle, Peace is one of our core values and a cornerstone of our educational philosophy rooted in Science, Wisdom and Peace.

Together, these values shape how we teach, how we learn, and how we engage with the world. They reflect a simple yet powerful belief: science sharpens the mind, wisdom guides the heart, and peace grows where the two meet.

For us, peace is not merely the absence of conflict. It is a shared culture built through understanding, empathy, responsibility, and thoughtful action. It must be nurtured intentionally and practiced daily whether in classrooms, in relationships, or in our connection to the wider world.

TMSA Peace Forum: The Global Student Dialogue is a natural extension of this philosophy.

The First TMSA Peace Forum

We held the first TMSA Peace Forum in October 2025, in collaboration with Busan International High School in South Korea. That initial gathering brought together students to engage in meaningful dialogue on peace, global challenges, and shared responsibility. Following the forum, our guests also joined our traditional Fall Festival, allowing students to connect not only through discussion, but through culture, friendship, and shared experiences.

That experience made one thing clear: there is a strong desire among high school students to understand the world more deeply and a limited number of authentic opportunities for them to do so. While students often learn about the United Nations and other international institutions, as well as global responsibility and peace, in theory, they rarely have opportunities to actively engage with these ideas in practice, aside from Model United Nations clubs. Opportunities to explore how peace-building organizations operate, to critically examine their strengths and limitations, to appreciate ongoing efforts, and to participate meaningfully in global dialogue are often scarce.

We recognized this gap and created TMSA Peace Forum: The Global Student Dialogue.

TMSA Peace Forum 2026: Can Peace Exist Without Sustainable Development?

This year’s TMSA Peace Forum brings high school students together to examine one of the defining questions of our shared future: Can peace exist without sustainable development?

With a particular focus on the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), students will explore the deep connection between peace and the social, economic, and environmental conditions in which people live.

Peace is more than the absence of war. Poverty, inequality, lack of access to quality education and healthcare, weak institutions, injustice, environmental pressures, and limited international cooperation can all undermine the foundations of peaceful societies. At the same time, peace, justice, effective institutions, and global cooperation are essential for sustainable development to succeed.

Throughout the Forum, students will examine these connections from different national and global perspectives. They will research evidence, evaluate progress toward the SDGs, identify achievements and shortcomings, exchange perspectives, and question whether the international community is on track to fulfill the promises of the 2030 Agenda.

Rather than simply learning about the Sustainable Development Goals, participants will be challenged to evaluate them through the lens of peace: Where has progress been made? Where are we falling behind? What prevents countries from achieving these goals? And as 2030 approaches, what must governments, international organizations, communities, and future generations do differently?

Through research, presentation, dialogue, and debate, students will bring their findings to the global student dialogue and consider a fundamental idea at the heart of the Forum:

Sustainable development creates the conditions for peace, and peace creates the conditions for sustainable development.
